Apparently Raccoon Mario was based on a Tanuki - a mythical Japanese creature.
Here's a: "Semi-traditional representation of tanuki, drunk and with its kintama (golden balls) dragging."
Seems right in line with the earlier Mario thread. I hope he stars in the next episode.

I just noted that his balls are not in fact gold.
his sack is not gold. as for his balls, it is hard to say.
