Come on, it's obvious. Though the signing bunny at first seems to have much greater value than the bag of Skittles, the bunny quickly turns out to be overvalued. The man regrets his decision to give up his Skittles. But alas, it is too late.
I think him losing the bunny at the end is a metaphor for him losing his self-respect. As I have lost my self-respect, but for you, not myself.
Everything makes a little more sense when it's anchored.
